Treatments

Key treatments, explained simply.

What each treatment involves and what it costs. Every visit starts with a £49 emergency consultation, and you'll get a written estimate before any treatment begins.

01Treatment

Extractions and wisdom teeth

Careful tooth removal when saving it is no longer an option.

A dental extraction involves removing a tooth that is too damaged, decayed or infected to be saved. It may also be needed for problematic wisdom teeth. Your dentist will assess the tooth and explain whether extraction is the best option.

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic for your comfort. Depending on the complexity, a simple or surgical extraction may be needed.

Is wisdom tooth extraction always necessary?

Not always. A filling or root canal treatment can be an alternative in some cases. Your dentist will assess your options and recommend extraction only when clinically appropriate. If the wisdom tooth can be kept, regular hygiene appointments may be recommended to manage tartar build-up and maintain your oral health.

02Treatment

Root canal treatment

Relieve infection. Help save your natural tooth.

Root canal treatment (endodontics) is used when the soft tissue inside a tooth, the pulp, becomes inflamed or infected, often because of deep decay, a crack or an injury. The damaged or infected pulp is removed, the root canals are carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed to prevent further infection. This relieves pain, treats the infection and saves your natural tooth rather than having it taken out.

Treatment may need more than one appointment. Local anaesthetic is used to make it as comfortable as possible. Some tenderness afterwards is normal, and your dentist will explain how to manage it.

How it works, step by step

What typically happens. The exact steps may vary depending on your tooth.

  1. 01Local anaesthetic

The area is numbed for your comfort.

  2. 02Access

A small opening is made to reach the root canals.

  3. 03Cleaning

The infected pulp and bacteria are removed.

  4. 04Filling and sealing

The root canals are filled and sealed.

  5. 05Permanent restoration

A filling or crown may be needed to restore and protect the tooth.

Tooth fillings

Repair damaged teeth. Restore strength and function.

Tooth-coloured fillings, also known as white fillings, repair cavities (holes caused by tooth decay), chipped teeth and minor damage. Cavities get bigger over time, so the sooner they're spotted and filled, the less likely you are to have problems later.

Made from materials such as composite resin or glass ionomer, they restore the tooth's shape and function while blending naturally with your existing teeth. Your dentist will remove any decay, prepare the area and place the filling. Treatment is usually completed in one appointment, with local anaesthetic where needed.

Replacing old silver fillings

If you have old silver (amalgam) fillings you'd like changed for tooth-coloured ones, we're happy to do that too.

Before: Silver amalgam
After: Tooth-coloured

Why choose tooth-coloured fillings?

They're a discreet alternative to traditional silver (amalgam) fillings. They bond to the tooth and can be matched to your natural tooth colour, so they repair decay and minor damage without compromising your smile.

  • Mercury-free

    Composite fillings contain no mercury.

  • Bonds to the tooth

Composite resin bonds directly to the tooth.

  • Less drilling

Strong bonding may mean less healthy tooth is removed.

  • Natural-looking finish

Matched to your tooth colour for a discreet result.

Dental crowns

Broken, loose or lost crown? Get it repaired, re-cemented or replaced.

customcrownpreparedtooth

Crowns are custom-made restorations that cover and protect weakened, broken or heavily restored teeth, including teeth with large or failing fillings and teeth that have had root canal treatment. They restore the tooth's shape, strength and function.

If an existing crown becomes loose, cracked or broken, or falls out, your dentist will assess whether it can be repaired, re-cemented or needs replacing.

Is same-day crown replacement essential?

It isn't vital for your dental health, but it can restore your confidence and minimise inconvenience. A missing crown can affect how you chew, making you favour one side of your mouth. Left too long, this may lead to excessive wear on other teeth and further dental problems.

05Treatment

Dental bridges

Loose or fallen-out bridge? Restore your comfort and bite.

supportteethfillsthe gap

A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by attaching natural-looking artificial teeth to the neighbouring teeth or implants. If your bridge becomes loose, breaks or falls out, it can make chewing uncomfortable and leave the supporting teeth vulnerable.

A bridge restores chewing, maintains your bite and stops the surrounding teeth from tilting and drifting. Alternatives for missing teeth include partial dentures and dental implants.
